As president Mrs. Kirchner has been challenging the inflence of the media by working to set in motion media laws to control television. She has raided the largest media empire's headquarterswith taxagents. A stradegy for attacking the one of the largest shareholders, Grupo Clarin, has been put in place because Clarin would promote anti president sentiment that will influence the opiions and thughts of the people. The goal of the media laws are not only to help out the government but has become a battle over the economy. Clarin has fought with other presidents in the past over media influence and control, but Mrs. Kirchner is saying that the laws will protect plurality of voices.
The battle of government and media control has been seenthroughout history. Such as the use of propoganda to create an uprising in a certain idea, support for a draft, and anti enemy sentiment. The US has had issues with the publication of news so laws were put into place to punish certain information or slander. It's not unusual but questions governments power and control over people, how it affects their freedoms and rights as citizens.
These media laws have become a political dispute to deal with the economy and influence over the people. Argentina's economy has began to slow which has caused some anti president sentiment which Clarin has fueled the fire to. If the government doesn't get the media uder Clarin's control in check then the hopes of Mrs. Kircher's hopes for a third term in 2015 will not likely happen. A challenge of constitutionallity has been raised to the supreme court and shot down, this could several affect the power of Argentina's government influence for years to come.
