Hundreds of angry muslims, in response to an insult on Facebook, went on a rampage and burnt down 10 buddist temples. It is surprising that a clash between Buddist and Muslims happened because it is more likely between Muslims and Hindus. Tensions have increased in recent months over a crisis in neighboring Myanmar involving a major Buddist population and a minority of Muslims. Flims have been produced and offended the Muslim population propting more tension.
The fact that violence happens like this is obserd. Relgious tolerance should be more important to cultures, it is a key to having successful relationships in the ever growing and expanding world. Since religion promotes strong morals and honor and respect it is sad to see those ideals thrown away for a reaction to a insult. The connection with places everywhere and all the different cultures is expanding due to the internet but that seems to bring bad and good consequences.
Globalization has brought about a new sense of connection that has allowed for shared discoveries and also shared hate. It's silly to think a meer Facebook status update would cause such violence but it has become a part of culture everywhere. It has affected countless cultures and it shows the negative consequences form the social websites in Bangladesh with pushing a relious tension to a breaking point.
